I had contacted someone a week ago when their car was listed at $6,000. I mostly wanted to know if the timing belt was done and if he was open to offers. He said he was open to offers and had, “done water stuff but not the timing belt.” I told him I’d be in touch if I wanted to meet up.

Flash forward 7 days after going out of town and now having some free time I tell him I’d like to take a look at the car. At virtually the same time, he had just re-listed the car at $5,000.

Within 5 minutes of replying to my request to meet up, the ads been edited back to $6,000. I'm guessing he was thinking I didn't go back and look at the ad, but of course I did.

I’m not offering over $4,500 either way, especially if the timing belt hasn’t been done... which hopefully I’ll be able to find out from a dealer. Oh and by the way it’s a first generation fwd Audi TT with low miles.

“It’s okay to like pretty things.”
